Unless you've got a death wish, you know not to go up against a
grizzly bear. They're huge, ferocious and fiercely protective of their
young. Beware when you go hiking in state parks. However, you may not
know just how lethal these animals are.
They're among some of the largest and strongest animals on earth with a
head around 1.4 meters long and nearly 2.5 meters tall when standing on
their hind legs. They're claws can be up to 10 centimeters long, and
they have to eat about 20,000 calories a day.
On top of all that, they have a bite-force of 8,000,000 pascals -
enough to crush a bowling ball. Just think about what that bite force
could do to human bones. Just a few more reasons to give grizzlies a
wide berth.
